Why click stuffing costs advertisers so much

Click stuffing is a fraud technique used primarily in affiliate marketing and display advertising where fraudsters secretly load multiple ad clicks into a single page visit. When a user visits a website, hidden iframes fire clicks across multiple advertisers' ads simultaneously. If that user subsequently makes a purchase from any of those advertisers, the fraudulent click receives the attribution credit — stealing commission from the legitimate channel that actually drove the conversion.

For advertisers running last-click attribution models, click stuffing is especially damaging because it silently redirects commission payouts away from the channels that genuinely earned the sale.
